It is a solid enough RIG to be able to beat the game, so don't worry about being underpowered as long as you have this suit equipped. This suit is only available after first beating the game. To unlock it from here just load up a cleared game save file and it will be available for purchase. Considering the obvious influence Resident Evil 4 had on Dead Space, it only makes sense for there to be an unlockable suit after beating the game.
It is also miles ahead of any other suit you get on the first playthrough. If you are playing on PS3 or PC and hope to buy this suit, then there is some bad news for you. Dead Space is admittedly a little DLC crazy for a single-player game. Fortunately, you can play the game normally without indulging in the DLC. PS3 players should not feel too left out; this suit is exclusive for them. It is functionally identical to the prior suit but looks different.
This suit is by far the best one in Dead Space. Each of the following suits can only be found after you beat the game the first time. Each of the elite suits are different from the original version and generally gives you better bonuses. The Elite Vintage Suit is located in the Transport Hub, where you have your first real encounter with the brute. On the left of the hub is a store with a mannequin wearing a Vintage Suit.
I really want to have all the RIGs in the game. I'm currently on my second playthrough, and feeling wary of missing anything, I'm starting this thread to keep track of what there is, help others, and hopefully learn about new ones. I don't remember all the information for everything, fill me if you do. Here it goes. Kind of disappointed that there is nothing better than the Elite Advanced suit, even after beating hardcore. Also, does this mean you can't upgrade your suits as in DS1? I kinda thought that after just getting to chapter 7, only 4 suits?
Some come equipped with flashlights on the shoulders and one variant has a helmet that comes with lenses instead of visor slits. This bulky RIG does not have thrusters on the shoulders like later models, and its holo-projector on the chest is small compared to later models.
Also, unlike other later models, the suit's oxygen tank isn't integrated in the suit, but is placed on the shoulder. These RIGs are for mere space travel, so it has no armor plating, but it still has the skintight sealing to prevent decompression in the suit. It is commonly used by astronauts working on the shuttles and space stations. This suit relies on highly classified technology and is intended for elite forces operating in dangerous situations and the harshest of environments.
Like all other full-body vacuum-rated suits, the Advanced Suit is self-sealing on most occasions, meaning that it will seal itself if punctured or otherwise damaged in a manner which compromises the wearer's exposure. This allows operators to work in the vacuum of space or other similarly hazardous environments. Dead Space Wiki Explore. Main series. Dead Space Dead Space Chapters. Other games.
